Why do blood glucose and blood ketones need to be monitored together?

When a pet has diabetes, monitoring blood glucose is an essential daily routine. However, during illness or high stress, monitoring blood ketones can prevent the severe risk of ketoacidosis. Observing the changes in both blood glucose and blood ketones simultaneously allows for a more accurate calculation of the "Glucose Ketone Index (GKI)" to understand the depth of the body's ketogenic state.

How much blood volume and time are required for testing blood glucose and ketones respectively?

The ABEL Vet GK+ system is highly efficient. Blood glucose testing requires only 0.7 μL of blood and completes within 5 seconds; ketone testing requires 1.0 μL of sample volume and displays results in 10 seconds. The tiny sample volume design significantly reduces pain during blood sampling.

Does the device require manual coding?

This system requires manual coding. Each glucose test strip box and ketone test strip box comes with a code strip. Before using a new batch of test strips for the first time, please insert the corresponding code strip to calibrate the system and ensure accurate test results.
